KEY RACE ALERT: Former St. Pete Mayor Bill Foster Endorses Kevin Hayslett for Congress

Foster joins local leaders and law enforcement in supporting Hayslett in FL-13

Clearwater, FL – Today, the former Mayor of St. Petersburg Bill Foster announced his support for attorney and former prosecutor Kevin Hayslett in Florida’s 13th congressional race, after previously endorsing another candidate in the race. Foster’s endorsement adds to Hayslett’s growing list of local officials backing his pro-Trump, pro-law enforcement candidacy for Congress. As a first time candidate and political outsider, Hayslett’s continued endorsements show his strength in the Republican primary field and position him as a frontrunner in the race to flip FL-13.

Mayor Foster served as Mayor of St. Petersburg, the largest city in Florida’s 13th District, from 2009-2013. During his time as Mayor he worked closely with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office to improve public safety and prioritized attracting small and large businesses to the city to bring high-paying jobs.

“I am proud to endorse Kevin Hayslett for Congress. Although I have previously endorsed another candidate, once Kevin announced his candidacy, I knew he was the person that we need in D.C. representing this community. St. Petersburg needs a representative that understands how to improve our local economy and keep our families safe,” stated former Mayor Bill Foster. “We need new leadership in Washington and I encourage voters in St. Petersburg and Pinellas County to vote for Kevin Hayslett in 2022.”

Hayslett announced his candidacy in January with support from Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and former Sheriff Jim Coats, positioning him as the law and order candidate in the race. Former Mayor Foster joins Belleair Bluffs Mayor Chris Arbutine and Clearwater Councilmember Hoyt Hamilton as local officials who have chosen Hayslett as their candidate in FL-13. Hayslett continues to build momentum as a political outsider and Trump Republican looking to lead the way in turning FL-13 red in 2022.

“I entered this race as a political outsider, knowing that this community needs more than a career politician or perennial candidate to represent them, and I’m humbled by the widespread support I have received,” stated Kevin Hayslett. “I’m ready to go to Washington and hold Joe Biden accountable for crushing our small businesses, threatening our freedoms, and ignoring rising crime and an unsecured border.”
