Hayslett continues to solidify his support amongst local leaders
Clearwater, FL – Today, Florida State Senator Ed Hooper officially announced his endorsement of Kevin Hayslett for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Hooper, whose State Senate District resides in FL-13, is the latest local leader to throw his support behind Kevin Hayslett in the crowded 13th Congressional District field.
Senator Hooper served as a Clearwater City Commissioner for four years before being elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006. He went on to serve in the Florida House until 2014, and in 2018 was elected to the Florida State Senate. Hooper has served in the Florida Senate for the last four years, where he represents Clearwater and northern Pinellas communities.
“As someone who represents Pinellas County in the Florida Senate, I cannot think of anyone better than Kevin Hayslett to represent Pinellas County in Congress,” Hooper said. “As a former prosecutor, Kevin not only has the knowledge that is needed in Washington, but the courage to speak up for what’s right.”
Florida’s 13th Congressional District is one of the most competitive districts in Florida for the 2022 election cycle and one of the most competitive in the country. Hayslett, who announced his candidacy in late January, continues to gain local support and establish himself as the Law & Order Candidate and as the Republican best suited to flip this seat red.
“Everyday it becomes more and more clear that the Biden administration and Democrats in Washington need to be held accountable and put in check. As a member of Congress, I will do just that,” Hayslett stated. “We need leadership, we need accountability, and we need to start putting America first again.”
