Sheriff Prendergast’s endorsement comes on the heels of recent endorsement by Sheriff Grady Judd
Clearwater, FL – Today, Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast officially announced his endorsement of Republican Kevin Hayslett for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Sheriff Prendergast adds his name to a long list of local Law Enforcement officials to endorse Hayslett, a former prosecutor, for Congress. He joins Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, and retired Pinellas County Sheriff Jim Coats in endorsing and solidifying Hayslett as Law Enforcement’s Choice for Congress.
Sheriff Prendergast has been serving his country for nearly four decades. After spending 31 years on active duty as a Military Police Officer, he was elected Sheriff of Citrus County in 2016. As Sheriff, he is known for his aggressive stance on illegal drugs and drug trafficking, having overseen the largest drug seizure operation in the history of Citrus County. Sheriff Prendergast was also the first in the state to place an official Law Enforcement officer on every public school campus in his County, always putting the safety and protection of students and schools first.
“Kevin has invested himself heavily in the community and is recognized as a person willing to tackle the toughest challenges for the good of his community. A fiercely dedicated partner for our profession, Kevin is law enforcement’s choice for Congress,” stated Sheriff Prendergast. “Kevin is a principled conservative who clearly understands the job at hand. As our Congressman representing Florida’s 13th Congressional District, I am confident he will be a leader who fights for our interests in Washington, D.C.”
“Our Law Enforcement officials keep us safe and it is absurd to me that Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrats want to defund those who protect our communities. In Congress, I promise to never let that happen,” stated Hayslett. “I will always support our men and women in Blue and I’ll never turn my back on them, or the safety of our community.”
